Last Friday, our College community gathered to celebrate Founder’s Day, a special occasion that honours the legacy of the Christian Brothers and our foundation in the charism of Edmund Rice.
The day began with the Founder’s Day Mass, led by Fr Mate Litric and Fr Jack Evans, reflecting on the 2024 EREA Touchstone, Inclusive Community. We also acknowledged our place within the global Edmund Rice network and offered a special blessing to our Christian Brother guests, including former Principal Br Jack O’Shea and Berg House patron Br Brian Berg (’48).
During the liturgy, Dr Lavorato presented the Touchstone Awards, recognising students and staff who embody the spirit of inclusivity. Congratulations to Alexander Bogoeski (Year 6), Albert Maroun (Year 7), Elio Alessi (Year 10), Jake Samaan (Year 11) and Mrs Sarah Tatola, Head of Teaching and Learning Stage 3.
Festivities continued on Breen Oval with the running of the 29th Waterford Mile, where Jack Taylor (Year 12) claimed victory, followed closely by Nicholas Macher (Year 12) and Ethan Lamrock (Year 8). Our Year 12 Prefects brought fun and laughter to Breen Oval as they tackled a lively obstacle course in inflatable costumes.
The day concluded with the much-anticipated Founder’s Day Football match, where Year 12 students from Hickey House faced off against a determined staff team. Despite strong competition, the students sealed a 2–1 win, rounding out a memorable day of tradition, celebration and school spirit.
As always, we honour the legacy of the Christian Brothers, whose vision continues to guide and inspire our College community.
Every boy who walks through our gates begins a journey shaped by faith, friendship and challenge. This is where confidence grows, talents emerge and young men learn to live with purpose and heart.
