At St Patrick's College, the Mathematics faculty is committed to fostering academic achievement and excellence by delivering programs that support every student in achieving their personal best.
A key focus of our teaching is the development of strong numeracy skills so students can confidently meet the mathematical demands of everyday life. Numeracy is embedded across all programs and reinforced through regular classroom practice.
Our courses recognise the diverse mathematical backgrounds and abilities of students. Teaching is designed to challenge and support learners so they can extend their thinking and maximise their potential. Students are regularly presented with both familiar and unfamiliar situations that require them to interpret information, select appropriate mathematical methods, develop solutions and reflect on their reasoning.
In Stage 4 and Stage 5, emphasis is placed on developing students’ mathematical understanding, fluency and communication, alongside their problem-solving, reasoning and justification skills. In Stage 6, students apply and extend their knowledge of course content through the development of strong Working Mathematical skills.
