Principal's Welcome
Co-Curricular

Cultural

Co-Curricular cultural activities provide students with an opportunity to engage in many areas of interest.

Boys are encouraged to perform to the best of their ability and are always reminded that the primary aim is enjoyment and development.

Every boy is unique and so too is what he brings to the wider St Patrick’s community. Our activities aim to nurture individual talents whilst also promoting a strong sense of community and school spirit, traits that St Patrick’s is renowned for. Overwhelmingly, our students acknowledge, embrace and celebrate the achievements of their peers irrespective of whether it is in the sporting or non-sporting arenas.

Cultural activities also include:

Music Program

Music is a vital part of College life, offering boys the opportunity to develop skill, discipline, creativity and confidence through regular participation and performance.

Co-Curricular Music at the College comprises two complementary programs: the Private Instrumental Tuition Program and the Ensemble Program. Together, these provide boys with a rich and practical musical education that supports classroom learning while encouraging commitment, teamwork and personal growth.

Private Instrumental Tuition

Boys may undertake private lessons with experienced specialist tutors across a wide range of instruments. Lessons are designed to support students at all stages of development, from beginners through to advanced musicians, and encourage steady progress through regular practice, goal-setting and performance opportunities.

Ensemble Program

The Ensemble Program sits at the heart of musical life at the College. Boys are encouraged to participate in bands, orchestras, choirs and smaller ensembles suited to their instrument, ability and interests.

Through regular rehearsals and performances, students learn the importance of preparation, punctuality, collaboration and commitment. Ensembles perform at major College events, liturgies, concerts and community occasions throughout the year, contributing significantly to the cultural life of the College.

At its best, music at the College is not simply about performance, but about belonging: boys working together, striving for excellence, and developing an appreciation of music that can last well beyond their school years.

Theatre Program

The College Theatre Program is a vibrant and highly regarded Co-curricular offering at St Patrick’s, providing students with exceptional opportunities to develop confidence, creativity, collaboration, and communication through performance.

The program is comprised of two key strands:

Co-Curricular Theatre Production

Each year, the College proudly stages a major theatre production, alternating between a play and a musical. This gives students from Years 7–12 the opportunity to discover and showcase their talents—on stage, in the band, through singing, or as part of the backstage crew. Working collaboratively in a professional environment, students rehearse and perform in the Bryan Brown Theatre, experiencing the excitement, discipline, and joy of live performance in a real theatrical venue. Renowned for their high production values and strong audience appeal, our shows consistently play to sell‑out crowds and create unforgettable experiences for both performers and audiences.

Theatresports

Theatresports is offered to students from Years 5–12 and provides a dynamic, fast‑paced introduction to improvisational theatre. Students develop quick thinking, teamwork, confidence, and storytelling skills while performing and competing in age-based teams:

  • Primary Team: Years 5–6
  • Junior Team: Years 7–8
  • Intermediate Team: Years 9–10
  • Senior Team: Years 11–12

The program has a proud history of competitive success, including the Senior Team winning the State Championships in 2022, reflecting the strength, commitment, and excellence of our performers.

Together, these programs foster a strong theatre culture at the College, encouraging students to challenge themselves, support one another, and take creative risks in a supportive and professional environment.
