Visual Arts

Visual Arts at St Patrick’s College, Strathfield equips students with the skills to navigate an increasingly multi‑sensory world through dynamic, collaborative, and academically rich learning.

From Stage 3 to Stage 6, the curriculum encourages students to explore their strengths, reflect on areas of improvement, and connect theoretical understanding with practical artmaking.

Students are consistently extended beyond the expected, engaging with contemporary artmaking practices across drawing, ceramics, photography, painting, printmaking, digital media and film. Throughout their studies, students have numerous opportunities to showcase their artworks through displays, publications and the Year 12 Major Works evening.

The knowledge, skills, and values gained in Visual Arts empower students to transform ideas into resolved artworks, developing strong capacities for analysis, reflection, judgement, and appreciation. These skills enrich their broader learning and support future academic pathways, fostering creative, independent thinkers capable of articulating and realising their conceptual intentions.
