The Performing Arts Department consists of two subjects; Drama and Music.
The Arts are not only subjects of academic rigor, but they also play a key role in the education of young men, providing them an avenue to safely and effectively express themselves, whilst building self-confidence, resilience, communication skills, as well as social and emotional development.
Studies have illustrated the many benefits of engaging in the Performing Arts such as improved literacy, numeracy, working and auditory memory and selective attention. Students often outperform their counterparts in a wide range of academic pursuits.
Both subjects are taught in dedicated specialist spaces.
Drama is offered as an elective from years 9-12 and is taught in the Drama Studio, which is fully equipped with staging, professional grade lighting rigs with both LED and Tungsten capabilities as well as a sound desk and dance mirrors.
The Duffy Music Centre has a dedicated state of the art performance space, 5 specialist classrooms including guitar and keyboard labs. There are also 6 small rehearsal rooms for private tuition and student rehearsal.
Students from years 5-8 take part in mandatory music lessons. From years 9-12 students can further develop their Music skills through participation in elective courses.
Year 9-12 Elective students in both Drama and Music have the opportunity to showcase their skills to the College community through various performance evenings throughout the year.
