Student
Wellbeing

The promotion of wellbeing at St Patrick's College aligns with our vision for the education of our students.

In partnership with parents, we seek to develop in boys a strong sense of personal identity while empowering them to achieve personal excellence through purposeful experiences. We aim to build their knowledge and skills in a safe and inclusive environment so that they can be confident, capable and caring citizens.

Middle School

Wellbeing in the Middle School is grounded in strong relationships, where each student is known, supported, and guided through a critical stage of development.

The homeroom teacher plays a central role, working closely with Year Coordinators and wellbeing leaders to ensure every student feels a sense of belonging and connection within the College community. This structure creates consistency, care, and a clear point of contact for both students and families.

At this stage, the focus is on building self-awareness, resilience, and positive habits for learning and behaviour. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, contribute to the life of the school, and develop respectful relationships with others. Camps, reflection days, and peer programs complement daily pastoral care, providing opportunities for growth beyond the classroom and helping students build confidence as they transition toward senior years.

Senior School

In the Senior School, wellbeing continues to be shaped through strong pastoral relationships, with homeroom teachers and Year Coordinators supporting students as they navigate increasing academic and personal demands.

The focus shifts toward independence, personal accountability, and preparation for life beyond school, while maintaining a consistent support network that ensures every student is known and valued.

Students are challenged to grow in character, leadership, and contribution, with clear expectations around behaviour, engagement, and respect for others. Opportunities such as leadership roles, retreats, co-curricular involvement, and community initiatives provide meaningful ways for students to connect, reflect, and develop a strong sense of purpose. This balanced approach supports both academic success and personal wellbeing as students move toward their final years of schooling.

Pastoral Care Lessons (PCL)

These age-appropriate lessons are designed to foster a supportive and nurturing environment, helping students develop essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and a sense of community, complementing our bespoke wellbeing program which has been a cornerstone of our efforts to support student health and happiness. Students in both the Middle School and Senior School participate in a 45-minute PCL on the second Friday of a Cycle. The activities align with themes outlined at Year meetings, Assemblies and in Homeroom.

Assemblies

Both the Middle School and Senior School ordinarily have a 45-minute assembly once per fortnight. It provides a wonderful opportunity for community building as student achievement is recognised and key information can be disseminated to students about different dimensions of College life. Key-note presenters are provided a forum and each assembly ordinarily concludes with an address by the Principal.
