At St Patrick's College, the Science Faculty is committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of the world around us.
From Years 7–12, students engage in a rich and varied science program that supports their academic growth and prepares them for future study and careers in science.
In Stage 4, students develop a foundational understanding of key scientific concepts across the areas of science. Learning is hands-on, with practical investigations encouraging students to question, test, and explain the world around them.
Stage 5 builds upon students’ prior knowledge by offering students deeper understanding of scientific principles and linking these to more complex scientific skills. Students investigate real‑world issues, analyse data, and explore contemporary science applications.
In Stage 6, students may choose to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science and/or Physics. In Biology, students explore living systems, from cells and genetics to ecosystems and human health. Chemistry examines the composition and behaviour of matter. Earth and environmental science course focuses on Earth’s structure, resources, and environmental systems. Physics explores the laws that govern energy, motion, and matter. These courses support pathways into University, TAFE, and careers in medicine, engineering, environmental science, research, and more.
