"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
St Patrick’s College, Strathfield proudly welcomed back members of its Old Boys community for the 2026 Old Boys Careers Information Evening, held on Tuesday 5 May.
The evening brought together a diverse group of alumni representing more than 30 career fields, offering students a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into life beyond school. Across three structured sessions, students engaged with Old Boys working in industries such as medicine, law, engineering, finance, business, media, construction, the trades and emerging fields including cyber security and digital marketing.
The event highlighted the breadth of pathways available to students, reinforcing that success is not defined by a single trajectory. From university study to vocational training and entrepreneurship, each Old Boy shared a personal journey shaped by commitment, resilience and a willingness to embrace opportunity.
A key message echoed throughout the evening was the importance of pursuing meaningful work. As students moved between sessions, they were encouraged to reflect on their own interests and aspirations, recognising that passion and perseverance are central to long-term success and fulfilment.
In addition to practical advice around study pathways, qualifications and industry expectations, students benefited from honest reflections on the challenges faced along the way. Old Boys spoke candidly about setbacks, career changes and the importance of adaptability in an ever-evolving workforce.
The College extends its sincere gratitude to the Old Boys who generously gave their time to support the next generation. Their willingness to share their experiences exemplifies the enduring spirit of the St Patrick’s College community — one built on connection, generosity and a commitment to lifting others.
The Old Boys Careers Information Evening continues to be a cornerstone event in the College calendar, empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures while strengthening the bonds between past and present students.
Every boy who walks through our gates begins a journey shaped by faith, friendship and challenge. This is where confidence grows, talents emerge and young men learn to live with purpose and heart.
