This year’s Junior School House Athletics Carnival kicked off under crystal-clear skies, though the early morning chill sat at a brisk six degrees as our first athletes stepped onto the track. Despite the cold start, the day quickly warmed up with fierce competition, outstanding sportsmanship and plenty of cheering from the sidelines.
The 1,500m event set the tone for the day, strong performances and even stronger support from peers. This spirit of encouragement carried through every event, as students pushed themselves on both track and field, cheered on enthusiastically by their Housemates.
A number of exceptional efforts were seen across the day, with several long-standing records broken. Congratulations to the following students for their record-breaking performances:
- Malietau Davis – 12 Years Discus: New Record – 36.07m
- Liam Dunne – 11 Years (Year 5) High Jump: New Record – 1.39m
- Orland Ianuzzi – 10 Years 100m: New Record – 13.82 sec
- Marco Desannti – 11 Years (Year 5) 100m: New Record – 12.95 sec
The competition between Houses was intense, with the leaderboard shifting throughout the day. In the end, Berg House emerged victorious, taking out the House Athletics Trophy for the third year in a row. An outstanding achievement!
