Celebrating Achievement

12/02/2025

Following the celebration of community and unity in our Opening Mass, the College held its annual High Achievers’ Assembly. A gathering designed to promote the distinguished academic achievements of the 2024 Graduating Class. As a community, we welcomed back graduates who had all achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 90 and above. Each was presented with their Academic Excellence Award for Distinguished Achievement in the State. In all, a total of fifty students or 29% of the cohort achieved an ATAR above 90; these young men represent the top echelon of HSC candidates in the State.

In particular, we congratulate James Kazzi and Jeremy Simonetto who were named College Dux’s for 2024 having each achieved an ATAR of 99.70. Luke Sultana was named Proxime Accessit with an ATAR of 99.60 and our third-place getter was Alexander Bechara with an ATAR of 98.50. This year, we were proud to announce that twenty-five students of the Class of 2024, had achieved an ATAR above 95. In addition, five students were placed on the State’s All-Round Achievers’ List, Sebastien Garzaniti, James Kazzi, Justin Ryan, Jeremy Simonetto and Luke Sultana. Three students, Anthony Loulach, Callum O’Neill and Luke Sultana were placed on the Top Achievers’ List having received a State Ranking for Mathematics Standard 2, Construction Examination and Studies of Religion II respectively.

Adding to the gravitas of the occasion was the announcement and presentation of the 2025 Br McGlade Academic Scholarship recipients: Nino Di Girolamo, Oscar Midolla and Heath Patterson. The Br McGlade Scholarship was named in honour of Br James Athanasius McGlade and is awarded to prospective senior students who have achieved the highest scores in the McGlade Scholarship examinations supported by an excellent academic record and active contribution to, and involvement in, College life.

These young men have done themselves, their Class, their College, and their families proud by their outstanding achievements. We share in their pride and congratulate each and every one of them for their hard work and determination in their academic pursuits.
