Celebrating our 2022 High Achievers

15/02/2023

Following the celebration of community and unity in our Opening Mass, the College held its annual High Achievers’ Assembly. A gathering designed to promote the distinguished academic achievements of the 2022 Graduating Class. As a community, we welcomed back graduates who had all achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 90 and above. Each was presented with their Academic Excellence Award for Distinguished Achievement in the State. In all, a total of 41 students or 24.8% of the cohort achieved an ATAR above 90; these young men represent the top echelon of HSC candidates in the State.

In particular, we congratulate Steven Dann who was named College Dux for 2022. He achieved an ATAR of 99.60, and Matthew Vucic as Proxime Accessit with an ATAR of 99.35 This year, we were proud to announce that eighteen students, 10.9% of the cohort, had achieved an ATAR above 95. In addition, two students were placed on the State’s All-Round Achievers’ List, Oliver Thomas, and Alexander Turner Jensen. Two students, Joseph Challita and Matthew Vucic were placed on the Top Achievers’ List having received a State Ranking for the Construction Examination and Industrial Technology Timber, and Business Studies respectively.

Adding to the gravitas of the occasion was the announcement and presentation of the 2023 Br McGlade Scholarship recipients: Jeremy Simonetto, Thomas Coorey, William Hannah, and Elijah Tan. The Br McGlade Scholarship was named in honour of Br James Athanasius McGlade and is awarded to prospective senior students who have achieved the highest scores in the McGlade Scholarship examinations supported by an excellent academic record and active contribution to, and involvement in, College life.

These young men have done themselves, their Class, their College, and their families proud by their outstanding achievements. We share in their pride and congratulate each and every one of them for their hard work and determination in their academic pursuits.
