Celebrating Fatherhood

05/09/2022

Friday 2 September saw us return to holding our Fathers’ Day Masses on site after a couple of years’ hiatus, with two different Masses across the morning. We gathered in the Gym as fathers, grandfathers, father figures and sons celebrated Mass and spent time in reflection together.

Our focus was on wisdom and blessing, as we looked at the image of the older oxen working with the younger oxen in the yoke; learning to work together while the younger ones learn their role from the older ones. We considered examples of father/son relationships from First Nations peoples, and offered blessings to one another in word, song and photos.

It was a simple expression of not only faith but love and affection between generations of men. Following each Mass, our wonderful P&F hosted a delicious morning tea for all our father figures to enjoy.
