On Thursday, the Junior School competed in their annual House Athletics Carnival. The day was perfect for athletics with a clear blue sky, light breeze, and dry conditions underfoot. The boys came primed and ready to compete and showed great support for their houses and individual competitors.
There were many close races and the points between the houses were tight all day. Boys really pushed themselves and gave of their best whether it be a track, field or novelty event. A special mentions must go to Zac Bechara of Year 5 who set a new record in the 11s Year 5 100m sprint. The previous record was set in 2009 at 14.22 seconds, Zac’s new record stands at 14.16 seconds. This is made all the more impressive as Zac slipped at the start. Well done Zac!
Congratulations to winning House, Hickey. They were pushed all the way by Rice House in a tight tussle. Final House points for the carnival are as follows:
1st | Hickey | 522 |
2nd | Rice | 442 |
3rd | Coghlan | 362 |
4th | Crichton | 350 |
5th | Berg | 348 |
6th | Hanrahan | 335 |
Well done to all Houses and boys for a fantastic day. Special thanks also to the Junior School staff for their efforts to make the carnival a special day for the boys.
