Wednesday 12 February saw the Junior School head out to the Auburn Aquatic Centre for the annual Junior School House Swimming Carnival. With some wild weather leading into the day and storm clouds looming, the day was always teetering on the edge of cancellation. This did not dampen the boys’ enthusiasm and not even the odd shower could deter the students from jumping into the pool.
The boys splashed, ducked, dived, and torpedoed their way through the water. There were many close races and big-hearted performances. The standout feature of the day however wasn’t in the pool. The boys support for each other, whether in the same colour house or not, was truly remarkable. This provided a great atmosphere all day long and was a great example of how St Patrick’s College truly is an inclusive community.
There were many outstanding performances on the day and congratulations are extended to the following students who were crowned age champions.
10’s Age Champion Peter Geagea and Julius Thompson
11’s Year 5 Age Champion Alexander Kelly
11’s Year 6 Age Champion Jack Edwards
12’s Age Champion Ashton Lee
The overall carnival was won by Rice House, with Hickey House a mere twenty points behind in second place and Coghlan House only eight points further back in third. This is the second year in a row that Rice have raised the trophy.
