Year 9 Commerce ‘Market Day’

02/08/2018

Students enrolled in Year 9 Commerce, study a topic called “Running a Business”.

During this topic, students learn about various decisions that business owners in the real world have to make. These include decisions regarding what to produce, what price to charge and how to advertise a product to consumers.

So that teachers can determine the extent of learning that has taken place during the topic, Commerce students are assessed on their ability to run a business. To do this, students form groups of 3-5 and work together to produce various products to be sold on Market Day.

The 2018 Year 9 Commerce Market Day took place in Week 9 of Term 2. From burgers, pizzas and sausage sizzles to waffles, Nutella pizzas and donuts, sweet tooth’s and savoury taste buds were well and truly satisfied. All profits made on the day have been donated to the Year 9 charity focus group.
