Juniors Shine on Track and Field

With sunny skies, mild temperatures and a dry track, conditions were close to perfect for this year’s Junior School House Athletics Carnival.

Events began bright and early, 7:30 AM for our 1500m runners, setting the tone for a long, energetic and action‑packed day.

The early stages of the carnival were tightly contested, with all Houses trading places at the top of the leaderboard. By mid‑morning, only a handful of points separated the field, and the overall title was well within reach for every House. As the day unfolded, however, two Houses began to edge ahead, turning the competition into a thrilling two‑horse race between Rice and Coghlan.

Across the track and field, the boys delivered exciting races, powerful throws and impressive jumps. One of the standout moments came during the 12 Years high jump. As Liam D of Year 6 inched closer to breaking the long‑standing record, the entire Junior School, regardless of House, rallied behind him. Their cheers grew louder with every attempt, lifting the atmosphere and showcasing the spirit, heart and unity we value so deeply at St Patrick’s. Although Liam narrowly missed the record, the support and celebration that followed made it a moment to remember.

At the end of a spirited day of competition, it was Rice House who emerged victorious. Congratulations to all our boys for their outstanding efforts, and especially to Rice, whose students displayed exceptional involvement, enthusiasm and leadership alongside their Captains and Year 6 cohort.

We also proudly acknowledge our 2026 Age Champions:

  • 10 Years: Lucas S
  • 11 Years (Year 5): Phoenix P
  • 11 Years (Year 6): Noah N
  • 12 Years: Christian P

It was a wonderful day of competition, camaraderie and House pride—well done to all involved.
