St Patrick's College Strathfield

Founder’s Day

14/06/2019

On Friday 7 June, we celebrated Blessed Edmund Rice and the Brothers who followed him. We shared in reflection on where we have come from, where we are headed and who we are as a College community, through the celebration of Eucharist, a relaxed concert led by Year 12 and a shared meal.

Our focus for the day was the Touchstone of Justice & Solidarity, as we looked to what God requires of us – “to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”(Micah 6:8)  The Big Boy Choir and Band led the community in song, exhibiting how we build community and worship God with the gifts we have.

The drama and excitement of the day was brought to a close with the College Band taking to Breen Oval and entertaining the crowd before the running of the Waterford Mile. Congratulations to Jonathan Meaker (Year 9) for his second consecutive win and to all contestants who ran in this prestigious race. As luck would have it, Br Berg was present to watch Jonathan streak home and secure the Berg House victory.

All walked away from the day with a sense of love and a commitment to the culture and tradition of the College. Founder’s Day is our day. And we celebrated our day in style!
