Visual Arts

The aim of Visual Arts education at St Patrick’s College relate directly to the values of the school and the community, the teaching techniques and special abilities of the teachers. The programmes from Year 5 to HSC are structured for the production of successful artworks and for students to achieve the syllabus outcomes.

The concepts of teacher directed and student’s personal research are an important part of these programmes. This approach gives the students a method or sequence for producing quality work upon which motivation and innovation can be built.

Visual Arts at St Patrick’s is structured to lead to the gaining of excellence in the Higher School Certificate and the foundation of skills leading to tertiary study and career options in related fields.

The nature of what is taught by the Visual Arts Department means that students are personally and creatively extended by class work, assignment work and the Bodies of Work undertaken.

Within each programme, students are continually challenged to, and supported towards, the achievement of quality and excellence and fostered toward reaching their potential.
