OLD Boys Rugby

1st XV backline - 1972

Old Boys of the College founded St Patrick's Rugby Club Strathfield in 1964 with the founding members wishing to extend their College community after their schooling years. The side participated in a rugby league competition in the Western Suburbs District and in 1966, played its first season of rugby union. That year the team played at Hudson Park, which was established by the Christian Brothers and the grass sown by the students of the College. In 1981, with the support of the College, the club secured Hudson Park as its home ground. With the financial assistance of the College, members of the Rugby Club, NSW Department of Sport and Recreation and encouragement of Strathfield Council, the existing clubhouse was constructed.

Rugby Competition
In 1974 the club participated in the inaugural season of the First Division of the NSW Suburban Rugby Competition. Today the club is one of two to have remained in the first division since 1974, a measure of the consistency and success of our teams. The club's record in the competition is outstanding. We are regarded as one of the top three in a competition of sixty clubs.

Over the past forty years the club has achieved the following on-field successes.
