Tennis

The Tennis programme is run by staff and Old Boys, ably assisted by the Firsts Coach, Mr D. Farrer (a fully accredited professional coach). Staff members, upon appointment, are encouraged to pursue Level O Coaching qualifications from Tennis Australia. Using their knowledge of the game and ability to relate well to the boys of varying ages, a programme has been developed which includes fitness, footwork, cross training and naturally, skills. Each of these facets being applied in a very tennis specific way.

Further to training as a team, boys are also encouraged to undertake private coaching lessons. This is an invaluable opportunity for the boys to get more personal attention and fine tune their strokes.

In addition to the ISA competition held in the winter season boys are encouraged to trial for representative honours at both ISA and CIS level. St Patrick’s has a proud tradition of representation at both levels.

Home Ground / Training Facilities

At St Patrick’s College we are lucky enough to have access to the fantastic facilities at the Sydney International Tennis Centre, Homebush Bay, which allows us to run both an enjoyable and professional Tennis programme. These facilities, in addition to the five practice courts on campus and the artificial grass courts at Strathfield Recreation Club used by the Junior School players, are used each week by over 50 boys now playing tennis during the winter. During this past summer, the College took the opportunity to further improve the College facilities by replacing the fences.
