Season 2009

Updated on 2 September, 2009 1:15 PM

The regular Football season came to a close for the College’s lower grades and many of these teams enjoyed great success over the winter period. To date the 3rd XI, 16A, 15A, 15B, 15D, 13A, 13B, 13C and 13F teams are undefeated. Furthermore, I was particularly impressed by the boys’ presentation, discipline and enthusiasm. Congratulations are extended to the 1st XI (Minor Premiers), 2nd XI, 3rd XI, 16A, 16B, 15A, 15B, 14A, 14B, 13A (Minor Premiers) and 13B teams who have qualified for their respective Semi‐Finals this coming Saturday. This achievement cannot be overstated given that our teams forfeited a
number of matches in order to maintain our traditional winter fixtures. St Patrick’s will be hosting the 1st XI, 3rd XI, 15A and 13A Semi-Finals this weekend. I encourage all members of the College community to come along and support our teams if you have the time. Boys are reminded that they must wear the correct College attire.

Ten of our eleven Football teams who played in last Saturday’s Semi-Finals have
qualified for their respective Grand Finals. It is an outstanding achievement and one that underlines the immense Football talent that exists at the College. Whilst the 14A Team were not victorious, I have been informed that they played the match with great spirit and kept going to the final whistle.

The final results which are listed below confirm that St Patrick’s finished as ISA Premiers in six of the ten grades. I would like to take this opportunity to commend our teams on a wonderful season and congratulate the Premiership winning teams. Those teams that finished as Runners Up ought to hold their heads high as they too had an excellent season. It would be remiss of me not to thank the large number of parents, staff and supporters who attended the Finals evening. The manner in which our boys were attired and the support they gave was outstanding. I left the venue feeling extremely proud that I am a member of the St Patrick’s College community.
