Football

Football was first played at St Patrick's College in 1978

with just three teams.  From those humble beginnings we now boast twenty-eight teams playing the sport in the senior school.    Football is, and has been for some time, one of the College’s most successful sports. We are considered by many to be the best Combined Independent Football School in Sydney.

The 2006 season was severely hampered by wet weather with many games washed out. Despite the weather, the 2006 season was still a success, statistically we were involved in 185 matches and attained results i n140 of them; the 16A, 16C, 15A, 15D, 14A, 14B, 14C, 13B, 13C and 13D teams remained undefeated. This high;lights our depth and that the future is very bright. In eleven ISA Grand Finals that we can possibly play in, we featured in ten and won nine! The results in the finals demonstrate our dominance.

In the B division Grand Finals, the 13B's won their final 4-0 and were Premiers for 2006 and our 14B's also on their Grand Final 10-0. The 15B's won 6-0 and the 16B's won in a close encounter against Redlands 3-2, whilst our 3rd XI were unlucky to finish as runners up to St Spyridon's 2nd XI.

The ISA Division A Grand Finals were once again an emotional encounter, which also illustrated our dominance. the 13A's started the evening in style playing an attractive brand of football to defeat Redlands 3-0. We continued our winning ways with the 14A's 10-0 victory! The 15 A's showed great teamwork to outclass their St Spyridon opposition 6-0. The 16A's had to overcome extra time to be announced premiers after a 1-1 draw against Pius.

Our obvious goal of the season was to regain the ISA shield after we lost it to Oakhill last year. Amazingly we won the 1stXI final by a 7-2 margin. This is particularly surprising when you consider we were second on the table after the regular season and were pronounced as the underdog before the match.
