The McGlade Library is named after Br J.A. McGlade who

 
McGlade Library Enterance
 

has had a continuing association with St Patrick’s College since 1933.

The open plan of the Library incorporates two teaching/learning spaces (one with multimedia facilities) and a silent study area.

Students are able to visit the library for independent research or with their class teachers. The study area is available to senior students during their study periods.

The McGlade Library plays a key role in developing information literacy in students through:

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to develop work units which integrate technology and print resources with information skills.
  • Emphasising student-centred learning
  • Establishing an environment conducive to independent learning

Print Resources
  • Fiction books - A dynamic collection responding to the recreational reading interests of students as well as the needs of the English curriculum.
  • Non-Fiction books - This collection covers a wide range of topics for both curriculum support and recreational reading.
  • Journals - An extensive journal collection provides a valuable resource for current affairs, recent events and scientific information.
Non-Print Resources

  • CD-ROMS - A network of 17 computers provides access to a variety of CD-ROMs, the library catalogue and the Internet.
  • Videos - These curriculum resources are available for students to view in the library in conjunction with their course work.
  • Sound Recordings - Audio books and curriculum items are available for loan.
Special Collections
  • Closed Reserve - HSC material available for overnight or 3 day loans.
  • Stack - Items reflecting the historical perspective of the collection or fragile items.
