Learning About Country

29/07/2018

Ten students and two teachers spent 11 days during the term break on immersion in the centre of Australia – Alice Springs and surrounds. They connected with our friends at St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre in Alice and spent time with elders learning about country, as well as bonding over the things that unite us.

They experienced the beauty of the earth in many different places and learned about the dreaming of wonders such as Uluru, Kata Tjuta and King’s Canyon.  The group grew closer as they experienced a simpler way of life and they broke down barriers created by stereotypes. They have returned to us filled with love, gratitude, a sense of equality and reconciliation, and a greater understanding of Aboriginal Spirituality and the importance of the land. They have forged lasting friendships and have been wonderful ambassadors of the College.
